Greetings, Scouters!

This is a "piggyback" message, following yesterday's surprise announcement that the BSA will be considering a behavior-based sexual orientation policy for adults in the near future. We are very familiar with this approach in Northern Star, including respect for the rights of religious organizations and parents to select unit leaders and teach their children about sexuality.

Most of all, while a perceived change in rules can be confusing and concerning to some persons for a period of time, we are looking forward to greater ability to focus everyone on the children we serve.

This is the hope in the air at the National Meeting in Atlanta, wrapping up tonight!  30 Northern Star Scouters have enjoyed several days of meetings and presentations. Many have been re-elected to area, regional and national roles.

Northern Star has been recognized for many of the things that each of you make possible.  Examples are:

- Endowment Achievement Award

- Venturing Excellence Award

- Duty to God Event

- National Marketing Award - Rocket into Scouting

- National Marketing Award - Year in Review video

- Gold JTE Council

- Improved JTE Council

- ArrowTour/OA Centennial site (Base Camp)

- Two NESA Scholarship Recipients

- Pheng Her of our Scoutreach Team presented on Scouting in the Asian Community

And more!  You can be proud of our leadership role on behalf of Scouting across America, and our 285 peer councils.

Come join us in San Diego next May, for fun and fellowship with your friends. We always have the biggest contingent at the meeting, and come home inspired and focused.
